Our thanks again to Mr Self who kindly allows us to run an event on his delightful little farm each year. We again took advantage of the event on private property to use the electronic timing system which we use in the forest events. A few of you missed out a control or punched an incorrect one which will have shown as a mispunch on your splits. As we don’t usually worry about such things at Summer Series events we have reinstated you in the results, however in a forest event you would have been disqualified, so do make sure you check the control numbers before punching if you give forest orienteering a go. Our apologies to those who found the last few controls had turned off before they finished tonight. The turn off time was accidentally set too early but hopefully we were able to insert an approximate finish time for those affected. The split times (the times for each leg for each competitor) t\have been uploaded to http://www.obasen.nu/winsplits/online/en/show_event.asp?id=9046
Thanks to Mervyn for setting the courses and to Jamie for stepping in at late notice to act as controller only 2 weeks after controlling Big King for us.
There was a sum of money picked up by a competitor out on the course tonight. If you find you have lost some money please call Roger (027 2932397) to identify it.
Next week the Summer Series event is on TUESDAY, 18th March on the Craigavon map, Connaught St, Green Bay, just down from the junction with Portage Rd.
On Sunday, 16th there is a score event on the South Head peninsula (South Head Rd), north of Parakai. It will be sign posted from the round about at the Parakai/Helensville junction. Registration is between 9.30am and 10.30am for a mass start at 11.00am. Please don’t run late. In a score event you receive a map with 27 controls marked on it and have 1 hour to visit as many controls as you can with points deducted for each minute spent over the 60 minutes. As everyone begins and ends at the same time it enables you to socialise with others after your run, so bring a picnic along.
