THIS SATURDAY NIGHT 7th March – ****NIGHT EVENT***** Ambury Park
SUNDAY 8th March Duder’s Beach
NEXT WEEK Tuesday 10th March Auckland Domain
(Details below)
What a superb evening again tonight, topped off with a beautiful sunset for those of us still there at the end. The cows were amazingly quiet tonight – I think it must have been too hot for them to put on their usual display. They did show how fond of orienteering they are, though, by having a very good slobber over the control up on top of the saddle – it kept our setter, Rob, busy keeping standing it back up. Our thanks, Rob for all your work as a first time course setter tonight. Your courses and effort to take people to nice places to admire the views, including the planes, was appreciated. Our very great thanks also to Mr Self, who so generously allows us to share for the night his wonderful little spot in the middle of the city. A treasure indeed. We hope you all enjoyed the chance to use the electronic timing system tonight that we use in the forest. Make sure you check our the splits here.
Next week we are again on Tuesday (the last Tuesday for this season) and on the very popular Auckland Domain. We will be starting from the lawn behind the Band Rotunda, on the semi circle road (The Crescent), just across from the sports fields. We are on the count down now towards the end of the season – this is the 4th to last event – so make sure you get along to these last few events
But BEFORE then on this SATURDAY NIGHT (7th March) we have our second NIGHT event (starts from about 8.30 or just before for children and when it is dark for others). Be sure to get those torch batteries charged up! These are really fun events and Ambury Park is a great place for a night event as it is flat and open with great reflected light on a fine night. You can camp at Ambury park (book with ARC) so why not make a fun night of it – there are BBQ’s available at the event centre too so you can come early and have a picnic with the pukekos and ducks. Weather and BBQ’s permitting we will also cook up some sausages to share at the end of the event.
You can make a full weekend of it by then heading out to the Duders Beach, just past Maraetai for the second in the Forest/Farm series on Sunday morning (8th March), being organized by the Counties Manukau club. Starts between 10.00am and 12.30. Sorry no dogs are allowed on Ambury Park or Duders beach as they are both farms.
Club members, entries for the Katoa Po night relays in Taupo, on the weekend of 14th are due in this weekend. Make sure you get them to your club member in charge of coordinating entries (AOC, this is Simon Jager si@maxnet.co.nz – he would love to hear from you). This is a highlight of the year with courses suitable for all from very young who go out on an extremely easy course at dusk with marshals out on the course to make sure everyone finds their way around, up to those who go out on the last, long leg in the wee small hours of the night.. If you do not belong to a club then join NOW so you can take part in this great weekend of orienteering fun and club spirit, camping out Saturday night at the event centre out of Taupo. If you join AOC now you will also have complimentary runs at the remainder of the summer series!.C1 (27) 8.1 km 17 C 1 James Bradshaw 37:53 2 Mark Lawson 41:06 3 Tim Cochrane 43:49 4 Lizzie Orchard 44:00 5 Toby Scott 46:39 6 Matthew Jeans 47:34 7 Ewart Maclucas 47:55 8 Phil White 50:10 9 Andrew Taylor 52:26 10 Steve Mckinstry 52:32 11 Imogene Scott 52:49 12 Michael Rodliffe 57:58 13 Scott Vennell 1:00:35 14 Alan Moore 1:01:06 15 Ken Taylor 1:01:40 16 Jeremy Gabe 1:01:43 17 John and Suzanne 1:03:11 18 Alistair White 1:06:41 19 Allan Janes 1:06:44 20 Ian Lightbody 1:07:02 21 Linsay Merrylees 1:07:33 22 Luke Gilbert 1:09:26 23 Tim Gage 1:10:17 24 Steve Oram 1:12:37 25 Mark Moriai 1:14:54 26 Graham Goodwin 1:22:07 27 Anne Mortimer 1:32:40 C2 (62) 5.4 km 12 C 1 Amber Morrison 27:48 2 Tania Robinson 28:16 3 Kate Morrison 30:02 4 Bruce Peat 31:25 5 Rachel Goodwin 32:27 6 Super Jono 34:26 7 Kane Alward 34:30 8 Katherine Bolt 35:22 9 Jon Taylor 35:38 10 Reuben Wilson 36:08 11 Tristan and Paul 36:29 12 Nicola Peat 37:36 13 Roger Ward 37:43 14 Karen Burns 38:12 15 Mark Battley 38:17 16 Greg Sands 38:20 17 Sandra Faustl 39:19 18 Debbie Bevins 39:40 19 Kris Jones 39:49 20 Simon Lieschke 40:00 21 John Barrett 40:30 22 Mark Wilson 40:56 23 Greg Roigard 42:05 24 Murray Thomas 42:36 25 Stephen Reynolds 42:40 26 F McCauley 43:03 27 Benjamin Balmforth 43:05 28 Tracey McMillan 43:09 29 Annette Orchard 43:14 30 Anna Gray 43:24 31 Cath Heppelthwaite 44:59 32 Jonty Oram 46:58 33 Shaun and Brent 47:04 34 Peter Bakos 47:17 35 Matthew Battley 47:38 36 David Teirney 48:35 37 Suzanne Stolberger 49:29 38 Miles Paver 50:22 39 Wayne Munro 50:45 40 Peter Ware 51:29 41 Roger Woodroofe 51:50 42 Megan Officer 52:04 43 Maggie Reynolds 54:52 44 Ingrid Vellekoop 55:51 Nearly correct 45 Lisa and Geoff 56:10 46 Michael Rohde 57:07 47 Selwyn Palmer 57:54 48 Loren Abraham 58:17 49 C McCauley 59:48 50 James Jelicich 1:00:23 51 Bert Chapman 1:02:01 52 Mike Roijard 1:02:29 53 Katherine Reynolds 1:02:35 54 Gail Sumner 1:02:40 55 Wakeman 1:06:03 56 Ann Jeans 1:08:01 57 Julia Neill and Claire B 1:08:10 58 Joanne Mahe 1:09:50 59 Sirkka Haase 1:16:29 60 Keven Tate 1:17:08 61 Angela Guptill 1:30:13 Jackie Steptoe dnf C3 (61) 3.0 km 15 C 1 Aley Will 28:15 2 Francois Van Heerden 28:16 3 Tristan Mercer 29:47 4 Sonja Herrmann 29:58 5 Oliver Young 30:21 6 Michael Lawton 32:03 7 Tristan Williams 32:18 8 Quentin Van Heerden 33:19 9 James Crosby 33:38 10 Rowena Taylor 34:01 11 Rob Vanstam 34:27 12 Katherine Barber 34:40 13 Peter Godfrey 36:03 14 Andrew Burnet 36:16 15 Christine Munro 37:10 16 Alan Walpole 37:20 17 Anna King-Ansell 37:43 17 Bella Day 37:43 19 Abby Geddes 37:44 20 Karen Woods 37:58 21 Bronwyn Holcombe 38:03 22 Stephen Lawton 38:15 23 Diana Taylor 38:44 24 Abraham 39:51 25 & Abraham Huahine 39:52 26 Linda Agnew 40:06 27 Kate Salmond 40:11 28 Mandy McBride 40:21 29 Jordan Martin 41:07 30 Nathan Agnew 42:04 31 Thorogoods 42:39 32 Ursula Will 42:51 32 Alex Wise 42:51 34 Anthony Van Schackwyk 42:54 35 Andrew Battley 43:22 36 Kirsty Wilson 43:25 37 Kate Smirnova 43:38 38 Alina Smirnova 43:53 39 Sophie White 45:36 40 Craig Moffat 45:46 41 Tamara Fenton 46:39 42 Stephanie Poole 47:42 43 Lindf Farey 48:05 44 Thomas Stolberger 48:14 45 Liam Stolberger 48:30 46 Maggro Salmond 50:31 47 Byron Clark 55:45 48 Ross and Liz P 56:09 49 Bob Lindop 57:17 50 Anna Crosby 1:00:27 51 Heareitta Swanson 1:00:48 52 Bianca Mercer 1:01:36 53 Young Alex 1:01:49 54 Miriam Tackoor 1:03:37 55 Pauline Thomas 1:04:35 Nearly correct 56 Girl Guides 2 1:06:10 Nearly correct 57 Girl Guides 1 1:06:40 Nearly correct 58 Adam Bell 1:06:43 59 Girl Guides 3 1:08:43 Nearly correct 60 Ryan Moore 2:01:45 Jesse Swanson dnf C4 (19) 1.8 km 9 C 1 James Crosby 16:18 2 Tristan Mercer 16:22 3 Oliver Young 16:52 4 Natsha Wilson 34:24 5 Ethan Chiddicks 42:17 6 Manukau Guides 42:38 7 Karissa Guides 47:08 Nearly correct 8 Josh Thomas Brown 50:54 9 Jeremy King 50:57 10 Zachery Agnew 52:12 11 Ryan and Hayden and Sue 54:52 12 Guiject 1:02:57 13 Alex Credo 1:04:19 14 Tangi Terepo 1:06:16 Nearly correct 15 Josie Terepo 1:07:45 Nearly correct 16 James Guthrie-Croft 1:08:31 17 Hamish Maclan 2:16:57 18 Moroni 2:17:09 Jordan Martin 12:45 one control missing
