Next week Thursday 27th November Ambury Park (and mountain bike orienteering this weekend, Club relays next weekend)

Thanks very much to Counties Manukau for organising the event tonight. It was great for the AOC organizers to have a night to go out and enjoy the courses on a newly remapped map on a beautiful night. Next week Counties is again in charge, this time on the very popular Ambury Park at Mangere Bridge. If you are approaching from the city side, cross the Mangere bridge and come off the first exit. Turn right at the lights and continue straight across at the roundabout along Church Rd, round the corner and turn right into Muir Ave, then left into Ambury Rd and continue to the end and into Ambury Park. Ambury Park is an ARC farm park so unfortunately for our four legged competitors this is not a day for them as dogs are not permitted in the park. There is a lovely picnic area at the event centre with very good BBQ’s so bring along your sausages and have a relaxed picnic dinner with all the birds and farm animals before you head home.

Mountain Bike Orienteering!! This Sunday, 23rd November. Starts between 11.00am and midday. On Marquita and Rob Garden’s property, north of Parakai on the South Kaipara heads. Signposted from the roundabout just before Parakai. 3 course with expected winning times of 100, 80 and 60 minutes. Don’t miss this opportunity to dust off your bike and have a great day out.

Club members – don’t forget the year’s finale of the inter Club Relays in 10 days time on Saturday 29th at Muriwai. Bring a tent and camp the night in the camping ground, share a BBQ and be ready for some fun activities Sunday morning. Make sure you don’t miss this chance to celebrate the end of the orienteering year (and of course, help your club win the club relay trophy.
