As we set up for the event tonight I began to think people would be starting to blame the start of the Summer Series on the arrival of the rain! After being nearly washed away at the first event last year, tonight looked destined for a repeat performance. Fortunately the rain cleared away and a great crowded enjoyed Lydia and Kate’s somewhat challenging courses – particularly so on the steeper parts of the bush which the rain had turned into something of a slippery slid. You will be pleased to know that the girls both returned from a run around their own courses feeling suitably exhausted!

A very big welcome back to all our regulars from past seasons and a special welcome to those having their first go tonight. We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming events.

We are sorry that the Summer Series flyers were not there tonight due to problems at our usually very reliable printers. We will definitely have them there next week and would love you to take a bundle to distribute around – we have had several thousand printed so don’t hold back!

Next week is again on Wednesday, 5^th November at Mt Richmond which is the delightful miniature volcanic cone off Great South Rd, between Vesty Drive and Portage Rd, before you get to Otahuhu. There is limited parking on the Great South Rd side but there is some more on the other side of the mountain, off the Mt Wellington Highway side. If you are approaching from the city direction the right turn into the park on the Mt Wellington Highway side is difficult at peak hour time so it would be better avoided. The road around the mountain is one way. The longer courses will also pay a visit to Hamlins Hill which is just down the road. We hope to also provide a contours only course on Mt Richmond to add a little bit more interest. There are no toilets in the immediate vicinity of the start area.
