What a beautiful evening again tonight. Isn’t it great having these bonus nights of daylight saving to stretch out summer a little longer. I do hope those of you on courses that went over to the coast were not too exhausted to enjoy the great views that Aiden and Simon had taken us to on their interesting courses. It was great to welcome along many newcomers again tonight. We look forward to seeing you back again soon.

We are going to find we are loosing the light rather earlier for the remaining 2 weeks, so do try and get there as early as the traffic will allow so you don’t get caught out struggling to read the map.

Our very best wishes to all those traveling down to the Wairarapa to compete in the Orienteering Nationals this Easter – go well!! And to those of you off for a more relaxed holiday break, have a great time and safe traveling.

Next week the event is on WEDNESDAY, 26th, on the Lloyd Elsmore map, Pakuranga. Access the park off Pakuranga Highway. Wednesday will come round quickly with the short week so make sure you don’t forget this second to last Summer Series event. The final one for this year is also on Wednesday, 2nd April at the always popular Auckland Domain.

But don’t worry, although the summer series is finishing there are plenty of other events ahead, both in the forest and also night events and sprints in the city. We should have a programme of these city events available for you next week. Meantime on the Sunday after Easter (30th March) there is an event in Waiuku Forest, signposted from Waiuku, with starts form 10-12.30 – a great event for those wanting to give forest orienteering a try. Then on Sunday 6th April there is a COMBO!! You can do a score event (a one hour event where you visit as many controls as you can, starting at 11.am - you need to be there no later than 10.30), and then for the enthusiastic, after a break for lunch you can do a MOUNTAIN BIKE orienteering event – the first for this year. More details next week but make sure you mark this event on your calendar now (and PLEASE NOTE the venue has changed from that advertised earlier.) If you want to hire a map board to go on your bike please email dianne@michels.co.nz asap, because stocks are limited.
