That was a busy note to finish on until after Christmas – hope you have enjoyed the first half of the Summer Series. Also hope you enjoyed using the electronic timing tonight. It makes for quite a busy time for us getting everyone entered into the computer at the event but there is no data entry left to do having got home – a real delight! If you are interested you can go to the Winsplits website and see the splits (times on each leg of your course).

 

Thanks to Malcolm Gawn for the preparation of the courses. The map is in the new style – and we got good feed back about its quality.

There are two events coming up that we’ve been asked to point out to you.

The first is a 3 day orienteering event: 

Waitangi Weekend; 4th, 5th and 6th of February

Super Series Spectacular

In the Rotorua Area

Every individual that enters before January 8th goes into the draw to win a night for 2 at the Birchwood Spa Motel! The prize is for Sunday 5th February, for 2 people in a studio unit with personal spa bath. Will be drawn at the conclusion of the elite relay on Saturday and winner must still be present to claim prize. This event is a fundraiser for the National Squad. The entry form is available on the Auckland club website.

 

The second is:

Orienteering will take to the streets and reserves of North Shore in March 2006. In association with the Trans Tasman Masters Games (TTMG) the North West Orienteering Club is holding and Urban Safari.  The Orienteering Urban Safari will be on Friday the 17th March with a 3 hour event starting at 4pm and a 1 hour event starting at 6pm.  There are grades for men - individual & team, women - individual & team and mixed teams. Printed entry forms are available now and online registration will be up and running soon. How about making the most of the TTMG and enter more than one sport?  There is Netball, Bowls, Hockey, Swimming and lots more to choose from. You don’t have to be really good at any of the sports. In fact, by making it cheaper this year to try four or more activities,  people are encouraged to not only sign up for their old favourites, but to also try new things.  The Trans Tasman Masters Games is all about fun, friendship and participation. The next Summer Series event is on 24 January (NOTE- we are back to Tuesdays) meeting in the carpark behind the Three Kings shopping centre, entry off Mt Albert or Mt Eden Rd. We’re on the Big King map and in the surrounding streets.
